IPAF half year accident statistics for 2014

IPAF recently released the 2014 half year findings from their accident database.

23 fatalities occurred worldwide involving Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), the main causes of which were found to be:

  • Overturn (9)
  • Fall from height (8)
  • Entrapment (3)
  • Electrocution (2)
  • Technical/mechanical (1)

11 involved mobile booms (3b), 10 involved static booms (1b) and 2 were unconfirmed.

The information generated by IPAF's accident database not only facilitates these reports but will be used to identify common issues and influence future safety initiatives. To report a MEWP accident, visit ir.ipaf.org.
