Fines reach millions under new sentencing guidelines

24th October 2016

Businesses are at a higher risk than ever before of incurring decimating fines if they don’t abide by health and safety laws.

Since new sentencing guidelines were introduced in February this year – which see fines imposed in relation to the offending company’s turnover and culpability - there have already been at least five separate cases where companies were sanctioned with multi-million pound fines following health and safety failings.

Understand your responsibilites for health and safety

Now more than ever, UK companies - and the individuals they employ to uphold their safety standards - must ensure they understand how to comply with the law and work safely, in line with best practice.

We firmly believe the best way to do this is to provide everyone responsible for health and safety, at any level, with the skills and knowledge required to work safely, and the confidence to contribute to a company-wide safety culture.

If you would like advice on ensuring your operations comply with the latest safety legislation, we’d be happy to help – give us a call on 01246 555222. For more information about the changes to the sentencing guidelines click here.
